Handbook
Church School begins regularly at 9:30 AM, starting Sunday, September 18th.
All participating members are asked to be in Church to hear the gospel reading
prior to classroom instruction which begins at 10:00 AM.
Currently, we have over 100 members participating in our Church School who are
taught ably by over a dozen of our parishioners who volunteer their time and
energy to help instill our children with a thorough knowledge of our Greek
Orthodox faith. Under the supervision of Rev. Fr. Dennis Nagi, as interim
director, formal instruction begins with the nursery school aged children and
continues up and through high school. Our teachers are dedicated in bringing a
true, educational, religious experience to our children.
A variety of educational and religious activities, games,
projects and DVD's according to themed lessons will be implemented for all
students. Students from 4th grade and up, as part of the educational process
will participate in designated classes to attend the entire Divine Liturgy with
a follow-up lesson on what they witnessed. When Sunday School is not in session,
parents are encouraged on these "Family Worship Sundays" to sit with their
children and participate fully in the Divine Liturgy as one family. All
important information regarding class sessions, holiday breaks, curriculum, etc.
can be found in the St. Sophia Sunday School Handbook 2011-2012. All parents
will receive one on the first day of Sunday School.
