We are fortunate that the women of our Philoptochos have set a precedent for us. The history of our chapter is rich with giving. This year we look forward to continuing that special heritage of giving and doing for those in need.

We welcome our returning members and we look forward to new members joining us. Although we want members to attend monthly meetings, we understand that many have numerous family and work commitments which present conflicts. However, your membership and participation in one or more projects or fund raisers will be instrumental in achieving our goals for the coming year. To become a new member, just join us at any meeting night or call the church office.

The first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 15^th starting at 6 p.m. Father Pat will start the evening with an Agiasmos. This will be followed by a "pot-luck supper" and then a brief meeting. This meeting is one not to miss. It’s a great smorgasbord of good food and good times!!! Newcomers are invited to come and enjoy.

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming celebration of the 80^th Anniversary of our Albany Philoptochos Chapter. Marcella Panza and Amy Spellos are planning a fabulous dinner night on October 16^th. The theme for the evening is "The Power of Women". Four outstanding women will be honored for their accomplishments and service. Tickets are $30 per person and proceeds will benefit the women’s programs at the Troy YWCA. A trip is also in the planning for those who would like to view first-hand the women’s facility and its programs.

In the near future we will be distributing a questionnaire to assess the status of Philoptochos. Your input to this survey will be invaluable in assisting the future course of Philoptochos.
