Another year began for the choir on Sunday, September 20^th. After what appears to have been a very short summer we are trying to regain our momentum for another year of music.

I would be remiss if I did not ask anyone interested in singing with us to join early during the month of October, before we begin rehearsing for Christmas. This is also when we will learn any new music to be added to our repertoire. We will rehearse on the first and third Thursdays during October. Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. and last no more than an hour and a half and are held in the Cultural Room.

To parents of children 8 yrs old and older: The Junior Choir will consist of those children wishing to sing with the choir during the Divine Liturgy. Each Sunday School class, on an alternating basis, will sing during the first half of the Divine Liturgy before returning to class for the remainder of Sunday School. It has been difficult to almost impossible to find a time for the kids to rehearse church hymns vs all of their other activities. Therefore, there will not be any weekly or other rehearsals for the Junior Choir. I am looking for children who enjoy singing, are disciplined, and willing to take the time to learn the hymns of their church.

Once the kids have graduated from Sunday School they are encouraged to join the senior choir. There they will actively participate in all rehearsals and services before heading out to college. Those that do participate for at least two years prior to graduation from high school will receive a scholarship up to $1,500 from the Spiro Takes Choir Scholarship Fund.
